Kabir te Ching – Introduction – 2

Whatever will be written under this series, is vetted by my own experience only, except nirvaana. It is my own experience from practically applying Osho’s teachings in my family life over a span of about 30 years.

Kabir is a ‘Bhakti marg’ saint where surrender comes first and meditative state attained as by product at the end.

What comes automatically has more impact in teachings of few saints like Kabir.

Laozi too seems to be ‘Jnan marg’ where meditative state attained through knowledge. And by taking knowledge from everyone the meditative state is attained first and then surrender happens automatically and so they start talking about Love, Compassion and surrender etc Like with Buddha, Osho etc.

So those teachings of Kabir after enlightenment will be helpful to understand Tao and those teachings of Buddha after his enlightenment will be helpful to understand Kabir.

One mystic ‘Ashtavakra’ whose ‘Maha Geeta’ most referred by ‘Jnana marg’ followers too have some insightful messages that may be helpful understand Tao. Osho talked at length on all these mystics and his version seems to me as most authentic, so in light of those teachings my comparison is basically based upon.

Another thing worth understanding is that in India there was many full fledged developed systems or methodologies for spiritual journey through ‘Bhakti marg’ (path of prayer of idol or God) was and is mostly part of organised religion and only few ‘Casts’, mostly Brahmins, in India are allowed to enter into it. ‘Jnana marg’( path of knowledge) remained and still continuing mostly for lower caste people/masters of South India and one’s own dedicated effort is required while facing society alone at the same time. Jnana marg is suitable for people of lower casts, in India as they have no other options, and also for those who are living family life.

Meera is exception to Bhakti marg mystic and Kabir is exception, of belonging to lower cast, to Bhakti marg. May be due to grace of their masters as they had seen spark in them.

Osho too added another feather to this exceptional mystics list by Organising and systematising the unorganised ‘Jnana marg’ and opening it to foreigners and for other religions too. He also founded a commune for such seekers where they can stay together with like minded a as lone strugglers in pursuit of eternal happiness through spiritual wisdom.

For such foreign disciples Osho gave a tinge of traditional wisdom of great Indian known mystics, unknown or forgotten one and many such foreign mystics too. Hence giving a new lease of life to their teachings too because it may be of help for someone in future.

कबीर के दोहे – Couplets of Kabir -बोलचाल की हिन्दी में.

Couplets of Kabir are called as ‘Teachings of Kabir’. Kabir used routine life’s instances to teach deepest knowledge of spiritual journey. This too about 550 years before! So even people of India may not correlate with them now. So only those which could be understood by all be tried to translate in English. Any correlated teachings of Laozi (Tao), Ashtavakra (Maha Geeta) etc be cited and tried from different perspectives.

Kabir te Ching – Introduction part 1.

When Kabir talks about King in his ‘doha’ or verses it is same as Laozi talks about King in his book ‘Tao te Ching’. Both are referring to that natural state of every human being which was enjoyed in childhood but lost during adolescent a age. Very purpose of every human being is to regain that state.

Comparing that state of human being with Lion of a forest Kabir says:

सिंह अकेला वन फिरै, पलक पलक करे दौर।

Sinh akela van feere palak palak kare daur|

जैसा वन है आपना, तैसा वन है और।।

Jaisa van hai aapna, taisa van hai aur||

Natural state of human being, when regained, is like a Lion-the king of a forest- keeps moving in its territory keeping eyes on everything at every blink of eyes. An enlightened person too keeps eyes on everyone and everything. The difference is that he now understand that just like his body is being energised by the Tao all other people or things too are energised by the Tao. So his eyes are set to see Tao behind everything or everyone at each blink of eyes.

Kabir said:

चाह गई चिंता गई, मनवा बेपरवाह।

Chaah gayi chinta gayi, manva beparwah|

जिसको कुछ नहीं चाहीये, वो ही शहंशाह।।

Jisko kuchh nahin chahiye, vo hi shahanshan||

The state in which Kabir is living, is natural state of all human being too, is described here by Kabir. My desires and worries got evaporated on ‘seeing’ my ‘self’ or ‘Tao’ or ‘God/Truth’ etc, and i became careless.

As soon as Kabir realised that God/Truth/Emptiness or Tao is already taking care of everyone and everything in a perfectly harmonious way each moment. His worries and desires vanishes immediately. It happens! it is effortless effort Wu-Wei. Anyone trying to go beyond or overcome is going to fail!

Only the one who does not want anything is real King.

It means the one who has experienced Tao, get dissolved with it like sugar in water, and Tao is real King of Cosmos or Existence so the one who experiences it too becomes King too.

Lao Tzu has written his verses in ‘Tao te Ching’ describing about this state of every human being as King. So it is for everyone to help in reclaiming the lost grounds in childhood.

Why only Kabir? The answer is that Kabir said:

सब काहू का लीजिए, साँचा शब्द निहार।

Sab kahu ka lijiye, sancha shabd nihar|

पक्षपात ना कीजिए, कहे कबीर विचार।।

Pakshapaat na kijiye, kahe Kabir vichar||

Kabir said that truth needs to be learned from all religions or of all the previous mystics. Followers of a religion must keep their mind open for accepting truth of other religions too without prejudice.

Kabir not only said but walked the talk by mentioning Jesus, Buddha /Mahavir etc as below:

जेते तारे रैणी के, तेते बैरी मुझ्झ।

Jete taare rainy ke, tere bairy mujjh|

धड़ सूली सिर कंगूरे, तउ बिसरे तुझ्झ।।

Dhad suli sir kangoore, tau na bisare tujjh||

There are enemies equal to the counting of stars in the sky, and his below head part was nailed on cross below horizontal while head nailed to the upright part above it, still a follower of truth, Jesus, never forgot God for a moment.

Imagine just a prick of pointed thing on your body and you forget even the work at hand!

Kabir also said:

कबीर कठीनाई खरी, सो मिलता हरि नाम।

Kabir kathinayee khari, so milta hari naam|

सूली उपर नर बंधा, गिरूत नाहीं थाम।।

Sooli upar nar bandha, giroot nahin thaam||

Kabir says that it is better to face hardship in search of your own ‘self’ or God, when a person, Jesus, was nailed on cross then God himself has lifted him from there itself and assured that his sacrifice or hardship should not go in vain.

Regarding Buddha and Mahavir he says:

या मन गही जो थिर रहे, गहरी धूनी गाड़ी।

Ya man gahi jo thir rahe, gahari dhooni gadri|

चलती बिरीयाँ उठी चला, हाथी घोड़ा छाँड़ी।।

Chalti biriyan uthi chala,

Haathi ghoda chhandi||

By controlling this mind to an unmoving state or no-mind state, if a person seek deeper within then the one who left his kingdom, in young age , having many Elephants and Horses too able to enter the unmoving and infinite.

A little hint about Tao too was given in this verse by Kabir:

मन मुआ माया मुई, संशय मुआ शरीर।।

Man mua maya mui, sanshay mua sharir|

अविनाशी जो ना मरे तो क्यों मरे कबीर।।

In no-mind state coupled with egoless state all confusions get dissolved or evaporated immediately as you have experienced ‘Tao’ in your life. Kabir says that he is floating on it.

If Tao is eternal then why Kabir, floating on it, is going to die?

Laozi’s ‘Tao te Ching’ is incomplete without Kabir in today’s context. Kabir is able exactly pinpoint ‘acts’ and ‘situation’ when one dives into ‘Tao’ like ‘Aha’ moment in life. So to remain in it more and more very small small steps are precisely defined. Osho’s awareness meditation or all other 112 meditations helps one to choose from the best suited so as to be adopted in daily life and enjoying this material world too to its fullest.

Guru Nanak gave a respectable place to Kabir in his Nanakvaani, duly quoting him. Hence tinge, and tone is from Osho and Guru Nanak.

Part 1

Ch 1.1 The Tao that can be trodden is not the enduring and unchanging Tao. The name that can be named is not the enduring and unchanging name.

  1. Having no name, it is originator of heaven and earth; having name, it is mother of all things.
  2. Under these two aspects, it is really the same; but as development takes place, it receives the different names. Together we call them as Mystery. Where the Mystery is the deepest, is the gate of all that is subtle and wonderful.

In today’s context, expressing Tao is similar to Meams.

Ancient sages or mystics gave a symbol ‘ – pronounced as AUM as Ohm in Ohm’s law’ because giving it a name is not possible. Here Chinese is far better than all languages to express Tao. To express by name in word one needs to use at least a consonant and a vowel, or a letter and a sound but it is not two too. Symbol contains three basic letters/sounds  in Hindi ie A U M.

By Yin and Yang its dual nature is expressed but it is not having any sound.

From two it became three and sound comes in picture or symbol . From these three whole world was, is being and will be created. So it is called by Lao Tzu, as mother of all.

It is not a path because path has a beginning and an end, but at the same time after seeing Tao one reaches to a destination too immediately then and there, so journey is performed too. A pathless path.

Even expressing Tao in symbol for sound is nearest possible expression of Tao, and so this expression is mother  ie ‘’ and from it all that is existing, in manifested and invisible or form and formless, at present.

1.2……..Together we call them as Mystery. Where the Mystery is the deepest, is the gate of all that is subtle and wonderful.

Take a seed alone and you cannot find even a trace of the tree, but as it meets the soil under favourable conditions and a giant tree sprouts from it – this is Mystery, when two together.

In a human being too birth of a child is under same process but there is another deeper Mystery possible with human being. When no-mind or witnessing awareness state coincides with egoless state – a deeper Mystery that Tao itself can be glimpsed, is possible. This immediately opens the gate of ‘Kingdom of God-as Jesus described’ to transform a human being into a subtle and wonderful state.

Why it is deeper Mystery? Because no effort is required to win this Jackpot of spiritual/inner world! It is Wu Wei, effortless effort.
Just you need to create a situation, like an Artist or Craftsman create to convey his message, like you prepare soil and water the seed, and it happens on its own.

In Japan the Zen people call it that you need not have to sow its seed, just create right soil or situation and wait, it happens. Their quote ‘Sit silently do nothing season comes and the grass grows itself into green.

Tao is maintaining harmony as in a dance, dancer do. A painter’s work can be separated from its painter but a dance is a harmony between two ie dance and dancer.
While we use a mobile the harmony is between 1) mobile with data/digits as its breathing and 2) battery, so without battery it is called as a dead mobile.

Meditation is the tool or cheat code to achieve this invisible treasure by inheritance from God.

My favourite meditation that is still giving me good results by Osho is simplest among all that is why it is cheat code.https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2641985275825745&id=188447071179590&ref=m_notif&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic

Qubit state of human being, both at a time.

Osho described that his state is very similar to the ‘Quanta’ state described by Albert Einstein. Now recent Quantum computer are based on it and its unit is termed as ‘Qubit’. When a Quantum computer’s or processor’s power is 2 Billion more than normal computer or processor then imagine increase in power in a ‘human being’ after enlightenment!

It is our natural state!

We are living a life like a shadow of this matchstick. Looking at our state saint/mystic Kabir said it in Hindi as ‘ठाड़ा सिंह चरावे गाय’ means a Lion is earning his livelihood for keeping watch over the cows grazing in the field!

Your basic nature is that of lighted matchstick, you with your self. In childhood lived in that state. In adolescent age Your basic nature is that of lighted matchstick, you with your self. In childhood lived in that state. In adolescent to pleasures  of senses mind falsely imposed ‘self’ on body leading to all duality ie pain and pleasure sense etc. Through meditation we can regain the lost grounds and become able to ‘see’ our real nature as lighted matchstick. This seeing your real self is awakening or enlightenment.

Osho’s meditation is very helpful to me in my journey.

Osho’s meditation helped me in my journey till date. He himself told not to catch my words but try to look where i am pointing to, through my words.

I see a lot of followers of Osho has just got hold of his words!!!

Osho himself said that forget my words, forget my teachings and try to indulge in experience by experimenting. My words, teachings are like fingers pointing to the moon. Try to see the Moon that is real religiousness.
Osho’s awareness meditation that helped me as below:

For Osho’s philosophy on meditation:

Kabir’s ‘Saakhi’, in Hindi, meaning ‘someting to learn from given two line poem’.

Kabir’s ‘Saakhi’, in Hindi, meaning ‘someting to learn from given two line poem’.

— Read on aisdhammosanantano.wordpress.com/2019/10/07/kabirs-saakhi-in-hindi-meaning-someting-to-learn-from-given-two-line-poem/

Kabir says that all the four ‘Vedas’ of Hindu contains wisdom of ages for today’s people.

Kabir has written ‘Saakhi’ of two lines in such a way that they contain extract of all these ‘Vedas’ combine. So if these vedas be treated as milk then Kabir’s ‘Saakhi’ are like ‘Butter’.

These Saakhi with meaning in ‘My English’ – as i have little understanding of it, but directly from heart as i feel it right, so literal meaning be not taken but the essence out of it, which is flowing through words be grasped or tried.

Comments on it will clear the doubt to some extent. Writing what is experienced is already impossible but Kabir tried, so i should too try at least.

Be a watcher.

Witnessing is very powerful when the witnesser is lost. Whenever the no-mind or ego less state happens to coincide with witnessing – one may get a glimpse of inside ‘truth’ that liberates, then you are no more same person.
Kabir said that when outside and inside becomes one, then only you have achieved destiny as human being.
We know about the outside only. Inside is not even felt by many! How can one meet to whom you do not know? Only the inside can find you, there is no other way this is why it is beyond our control. Even if inside wishes to meet you in present moment, then you must be looking at it too, to be able to meet.

Osho advices to become watcher.

No-mind state makes you available in present moment, and witnessing lets you see yourself so that anything coming out can see you ‘watching’ at it. Simple.

Zen in real life.

African Proverb

It is amazing that what Zen philosophy says in one way, the spiritual way, this african proverb says in material sense-more practical to understand Zen.

Zen people says that just sit silently, doing nothing, season comes and the grass grows itself green!

What worked well in a situation, shallow water, same may not work again if situations are changed, deep water.

Sometimes just leaving things for right time to come to do a job is good decision.

In extreme summer one can measure it using same technique!

Spiritual meaning: in material life much is easily achieved as everyone is living same life.

In spiritual journey a little growth happens when the time is right but it turns out to be quantum leap – like measuring depth of deep water with foot- just you need to keep practicing till then.

Tao and law of energy.

Only metaphour can be used to explain ‘the logic’ or ‘the law’ or TAO because it is not logic too at the same time because both opposites are present in it-Wu and Wei.

Like human beings.

According to metaphour of mobile as human body, and data its soul. TAO can be defined as ‘THE UNIVERSAL LAW OF ENERGY’’ :

The law says that it cannot be created or destroyed only converted into one form to another form. That law maintains an equilibrium of all hidden energy – in material form – and expressed energy that we use to drive our gadgets etc.

In this mobile metaphour too:

This law is driving force behind all energy source for data/digits in unmanifest form or processor/mobile in manufested form.

It may be the mobile/processor/computer/tower etc as manifested form of that energy (the white part) from materials of the Earth or the digits it will process (non manifested

Part-black part) or Data for mobile both are in existence due to change in form of that infinite energy. You cannot see the law of energy but it is working continuously maintaining the equilibrium in whole cosmos. It is behind every action in mobile/computer/data/digits.

So is every human being as only manifested part of that infinite energy, and what is amazing that by knowing or ‘seeing’ it in non manifested form one can know the law too and immediately get connected to that infinite reservoir of energy.

Once you get connected to it, you become eternal like Lao Tzu. As saints have said who have known it, that :This is very purpose of every human life.

The Kingdom of God or Tao or Consciousness or Soul is like Data for a mobile phone.

If you exist then the whole world around you exists too. The seed of your existence of world around lies in a person’s mind, and so every person defines the world around him differently, may be they all are living in very similar locality, religion and country.

The greatest gift of God to human being is that he can enter into eternity, timelessness and soul – called as Home by Indian sages/mystics – without leaving this body.

Once a person gets a glimpse of it, immediately he comes to know that it is same for all. It is the subtle driving force behind everything.

It can be explained to new generation as Digits/Data.

The mobile phones, computers etc runs on it. A mobile phone cannot experience it while it has a processor called ‘Mind’ of the mobile. Even if some mobiles have same types of mind every person uses it differently- creating a world of its own out of it.

Mind of processor is made by human being so it does not have ability to transcend from itself using it, like A human mind can.

Imagine if a mobile’s mind has ability to transcend then it can see or become the Digit/Data. On experiencing Data/digits for first time, immediately it will notice that no other mobile is different! The soul of every mobile is same as that of every human being. Only the physical appearance and use differs!

All runs on binary digit 0 and 1, complimentary numbers, in harmony to create everything available on it, in action.

When that mobile, which has seen the data/digits, informs other mobiles about their soul and uses contradictory words, because they do not understand numbers 0 or 1, then the mobiles are bound to get confused.

How can opposite in harmony or in a well defined manner are making all of us run? and we are actually not doing anything! We are not the doer actually and things are done through us! The programmer has written whole programme already! We are just tool! And if we keep doing without attachment we cam also see the data!

Celebrate! That you are being used by the maker of Data/digit and body. There were millions before you and they are of no use at all now, and one day you also will be sent to that garbage bin. Do not feel proud because there will be millions after you too, and they will break all your set records! So do not run behind records, just do your work with totality.

Getting a glimpse of Data is like ‘becoming a lamp’ or ‘Satori’ or enlightenment and then ‘Nirvaana’ or ‘Awakening’ means remaining 24×7 in form of Data/Binary Digit leaving the body/mobile as well as master both.

Then by remaining in Data/Digit form you never become outdated and can meet and play with all previous Data/Digit in that eternal freedom of emptiness of infinite size.

Osho and many mystics said that after getting a glimpse of your soul/self/consciousness, the feeling that everything is mine as i know the secret behind all these makes it a King. With this experience it enters into the Kingdom of God or Soul or Tao or Consciousness.

Alas but for mobile phone but for human being it is possible because our mind is gifted with such capability by God himself so that with the help of it one cam go beyong it too in no-mind state.

Actually Data is natural state of every human being. It is the mind that creates illusion to him as he is a mobile. So all the different catagory gets created automatically and politics begins. This politics lead to honor, money and muscle power. So a whole illusionry world came into existence in which natural state seems to be illusion and illusion becomes real.

Without experiencing no-mind state it is not possible to understand.

Meditation to bring no-mind state coupled with total awareness in any moment may bring that experience possible for everyone-said Osho, and it is still being experienced by many of his formal/informal desciples.

Once you get a glimpse or satori or enlightenment before Nirvaana/Awakening/Tao then again the nature comes you your help to remind you to remain in present moment more and more.

Heart Sutra by Buddha/Osho is about this journey only.

Only few dare for Spiritual World too, after Conquering Zones of material world.

growth zones

Every human life is a journey destined towards the beginning point of this whole existence. In Egypt it is described as Wisdom snake, which is eating its own tail. Out of nothingness as per Buddha or Shunyata as per Nagarjuna, this whole existence evolved. It is evolving each moment, like any natural process may be very slow, tree or animal or human being. All these components of ecology are being fed by same energy as juice in a rose flower plant nourishes each root, thorn, leaf, and stem/branch and flower too individually while they all are away from each other and in different role.

Only human being can experience and know this natural juice or energy, and its very experience brings eternal freedom from this cycle of death and life again and again.

In earlier period since food is directly arranged by each from nature itself, so there was not even need of studying and job etc. As soon as one is free one can immerse inside and make effort to know. So in that period of time in history creative people get immersed in Art forms as it helps one in forwarding inner journey. Others get busy in extending territory or protecting it. To run this military a system of revenue was developed from business as well as land use.

Now one has to earn bread and butter first, so the need of necessary evil like education and job arises too. After getting job again same two types’ one in constructive role of society and another in revenue/military. Military comprises of every development in technology which later, after being obsolete in military use, being used for civil purposes or revenue purposes too.

For both ways one badly needs to progress step by step as per four Zones above. After being reached at fourth zone and conquered it too, one may be in civil use of his power.

If there is compassion enough to begin progress in spiritual dimension then achievements of all these four Zone achievements becomes Comfort Zone in spiritual journey for most of the successful person. It is because they feel comfortable being at top in material world. It requires daring to lose all achievements specially knowledge gained and jump into the ocean of the unknown at ripened age of life.

This fourth zone consist of “Heart Chakra” in human body. So only if there is left enough compassion towards peoples then progress is possible. If there left no compassion means the mind has started playing role of the heart too. All mental challenges begin to show their signs here and life afterwards. Once challenge is well set then through psychological or other treatment first again conquer the heart in its virgin state, as it is its natural state, and journey may begin again in forward direction.

The ‘aha’ moment when one finds engulfed in natural surroundings, or due to any other reason, is felt by this chakra.

Since by the grace of God, he breathed first breathe in everyone’s body, so unless and until you give first priority to him, he is not ready to accept your request. Initially only for few moments, by being in present moment because he is present always and everywhere. He is beyond space – time, that is why Jesus Christ said “There will be no time” when asked about quality of “Kingdom of God”. Few moments of your life, at least, when you are busy with your career making process may sow the seed of spirituality to let it grow in tree form when sufficient soil, success in material world, is made ready. Then after getting established with family while children got married or so, then whenever your heart says it is right time to turn in, then you can begin turning inwards till you remain inwards 24X7. (One has conquered his First zone i.e. Comfort Zone of Spiritual progress)

The meditation that helped me in my inner journey is as link given below. I practiced it during brushing my teeth, when i am alone with myself for 2 minutes, and over a period of time, Meditation became way of life effortlessly!

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2641985275825745&id=188447071179590&ref=m_notif&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic

Then these moments, spent by one in practicing meditation for few minutes from busy daily schedule, will be of great benefit as the flame is still burning at dim light. It may encroach upon all your activities as mindfulness without you knowing or trying about it. Its effect may have been felt by you at fag end of your career when you lead a team and on its final day you do not feel any hunger or thirst for whole day! (One has conquered his second zone i.e. Fear Zone of Spiritual progress)

It is a sign of the God, by being breathed in you with his eternal source of energy, energising you for whole day even without your notice. It is a sign that he is accepting your request, to be free from the world and in solitude, if you meditate and keep busy reading or listening or dancing, celebrating etc then one day you may get a glimpse of him in someone’s eyes-as happened with Amir khusaro, in a leaf falling from a tree – as happened with Lao Tzu, in dimming of morning star-as happened with Buddha.

This is satori, it may be lost within few moments because if one’s energy level is low to retain it for 24X7- this is one’s entry into Third Zone of the spiritual progress (or sixth zone from beginning of career).

And if one go on practicing meditation and practicing witnessing awareness then one day one will get the glimpse without any other support or one may call it answer of question “Who am I?”- this is you are about to leave any time the sixth zone and as now compassion rises in your heart for others. Here only due to blessings of God, it may happen to you again that suddenly you enter into “Kingdom of God” effortlessly or it may not happen at all in your lifetime. It all depends upon his grace on you. He graced you first breath and now again his grace is important. So if one has reached to this point through motto “Work is worship” or “Prayer is worship” or “Love is God” “To serve is serving God” these all are of no use afterwards only his grace. The more compassion overflows through you towards whole ecosystem of the surroundings, the more are your chances.

This is such asset that no one can snatch it from you, only your willingness to give and it starts flowing. The more it flows the more and more you get it. You entered into Spiritual world and keep growing here there is no limit in infinite for eternity or limitless time and space to explore. Now one can draw energy at will from infinite and eternal source of energy by just thinking about it.

To make it clearer it is quoted in detail as below”

Quoted From chapter 1, The Buddha Within, The Heart Sutra, p4-10. In bracket – my comments are based on from my experience and knowing or understanding till date vis a vis Zones shown in fig above.

“The ancient Buddhist scriptures talk about seven temples. Just as Sufis talk about seven valleys, and Hindus talk about seven chakras, Buddhists talk about seven temples.

(In Christianity there are seven rugs of the ladder and now I am trying to correlate them with Seven Zones of the spiritual world, actually every human being is destined to conquer but usually stops at fourth, after conquering material world as per the picture above)

The first temple, the physical, can correspond to the Hindu map with the Muladhar chakra; (Comfort Zone)

The second, the psychosomatic, with Svadhisthaan chakra; (Fear Zone)

The third, the psychological, with Manipur Chakra; (Learning Zone)

The fourth, the psycho-spiritual, with Anahatta Chakra; (Growth Zone – for Material world and Comfort Zone – for Spiritual progress)

The fifth, the spiritual, with Vishuddhi Chakra; (Fear Zone for Spiritual progress)

The sixth, the spiritual-transcendental, with Aagyaa or Aaajnaa Chakra; (Learning Zone for Spiritual progress)

And the seventh, the transcendental, with Sahastrar Chakra. (Growth Zone of Spiritual world)

Sahastrar means one-thousand-petal lotus.

That is the symbol of the ultimate flowering: nothing has remained hidden, all has become unhidden, manifest. The thousand petal lotus has opened, the whole sky is filled with its fragrance, its beauty, its benediction.

In the modern world a great work has started in search of the innermost core of the human being. It will be good to understand how far modern efforts lead us.

Pavlov, B.F. Skinner and the other behaviourists, go on circling around the physical, the muladhar chakra.

They think man is only the body. They get too much involved in the first temple, they get too much involved with the physical, and they forget everything else. These people are trying to explain man only through the physical, the material.

This attitude becomes a hindrance because they are not open. When from the very beginning you deny that there is nothing other than the body, then you deny the exploration itself. This becomes a prejudice.

A communist, a Marxist, a behaviourist, an atheist — people who believe that man is only the body — their very belief closes doors to higher realities. They become blind. And the physical is there, the physical is the most apparent; it needs no proof. The physical body is there, you need not prove it. Because it need not be proved, it becomes the only reality. That is nonsense. Then man loses all dignity.

If there is nothing to grow in or to grow towards, there cannot be any dignity in life. Then man becomes a thing. Then you are not an opening, then nothing more is going to happen to you — you are a body: you will eat, and you will defecate, and you will eat and you will make love and produce children, and this will go on and on, and one day you die.

A mechanical repetition of the mundane, the trivia — how can there be any significance, any meaning, any poetry? How can there be any dance? Skinner has written a book, Beyond Freedom and Dignity. It should be called Below Freedom and Dignity, not beyond. It is below, it is the lowest standpoint about man, the ugliest.

There is nothing wrong about the body, remember. I am not against the body, it is a beautiful temple. The ugliness enters when you think this is all.

Man can be conceived of as a ladder with seven rungs, and you get identified with the first rung. Then you are not going anywhere. And the ladder is there, and the ladder bridges this world and the other; the ladder bridges matter with God.

The first rung is perfectly good if it is used in relationship to the whole ladder. If it functions as a first step it is immensely beautiful: one should be thankful to the body. But if you start worshipping the first rung and you forget the remaining six, you forget that the whole ladder exists and you become closed, confined to the first rung, then it is no longer a rung at all… because a rung is a rung only when it leads to another rung, a rung is a rung only when it is part of a ladder. If it is no longer a rung then you are stuck with it.

Hence, people who are materialistic are always stuck, they always feel something is missing, they don’t feel they are going anywhere. They move in rounds, in circles, and they come again and again to the same point. They become tired and bored. They start contemplating how to commit suicide. And their whole effort in life is to find some sensations, so something new can happen. But what ‘new’ can happen? All the things that we go on being occupied with are nothing but toys to play with.

Think of these words of Frank Sheed: “The soul of man is crying for purpose or meaning. And the scientist says, ‘Here is a telephone.’ Or, ‘Look! Television!’ — exactly as one tries to distract a baby crying for its mother by offering it sugar sticks and making funny faces at it. The leaping stream of invention has served extraordinarily well to keep man occupied, to keep him from remembering that which is troubling him.” (So is still today!)

All that the modern world has provided you with is nothing but sugar sticks, toys to play with — and you were crying for the mother, you were crying for love, and you were crying for consciousness, and you were crying for some significance in life. And they say, “Look! The telephone. Look! The television. Look! We have brought so many beautiful things for you.”

And you play around a little bit; again you get fed up, again you are bored, and again they go on searching for new toys for you to play with. This state of affairs is ridiculous. It is so absurd that it seems almost inconceivable how we go on living in it.

We have got caught at the first rung. Remember that you are in the body, but you are not the body; let that be a continuous awareness in you.

You live in the body, and the body is a beautiful abode. Remember, I am not for a single moment hinting that you become anti-body, that you start denying the body as the so-called spiritualists have done down the ages. The materialists go on thinking that the body is all that is, and there are people who move to the opposite extreme, and they start saying that the body is illusory, the body is not! “Destroy the body so the illusion is destroyed, and you can become really real.”

This other extreme is a reaction. The materialist creates his own reaction in the spiritualist, but they are partners in the same business; they are not very different people. The body is beautiful, the body is real, the body has to be lived, the body has to be loved. The body is a great gift of God. Not for a single moment be against it, and not for a single moment think that you are only it. You are far bigger. Use the body as a jumping board.

The second is: psychosomatic, svadhisthaan chakra. (Fear Zone – Material progress)

Freudian psychoanalysis functions there. It goes a little higher than Skinner and Pavlov. Freud enters into the mysteries of the psychological a little bit more. He’s not just a behaviourist, but he never goes beyond dreams. He goes on analysing the dreams.

The dream exists as an illusion in you. It is indicative, it is symbolic, and it has a message from the unconscious to be revealed to the conscious. But there is no point in just getting caught in it.

Use the dream, but don’t become the dream. You are not the dream. And there is no need to make so much fuss about it, as Freudians go on making. Their whole effort seems to be moving in the dimension of the dream world.

Take note of it, take a very, very clear standpoint about it, understand its message, and there is no need really to go to anybody else for your dream analysis. If you cannot analyse your dream nobody else can, because your dream is your dream. And your dream is so personal that nobody else can dream the way you dream. Nobody has ever dreamed the way you dream, nobody will ever dream the way you dream; nobody can explain it to you. His interpretation will be his interpretation. Only you can look into it.

And in fact there is no need to analyse the dream: look at the dream in its totality, with clarity, with alertness, and you will see the message. It is so loud! There is no need to go for psychoanalysis for three, four, five, seven years. A person who is dreaming every night, and in the day is going to the psychoanalyst to be analysed, becomes by and by surrounded by dreamy-stuff.

Just as the first becomes too much obsessed with the ‘muladhar chakra’, the physical, the second becomes too much obsessed with the sexual… because the second — the realm of psychosomatic reality — is sex.

The second starts interpreting everything in terms of sex. Whatsoever you do, go to the Freudian and he will reduce it to sex. Nothing higher exists for him. He lives in the mud, he does not believe in the lotus. You bring a lotus flower to him, he will look at it and reduce it to the mud. He will say, “This is nothing, this is just dirty mud. Has it not come out of dirty mud? If it has come out of dirty mud then it has to be dirty mud.” Reduce everything to its cause, and that is the real. Then every poem is reduced to sex, everything beautiful is reduced to sex and perversion and repression. Michelangelo is a great artist? Then his art has to be reduced to some sexuality. And Freudians go to absurd lengths. They say: Michelangelo or Goethe or Byron, all their great works of art which bring great joy to millions of people, are nothing but repressed sex — maybe Goethe was going to masturbate and was stopped. Millions of people are stopped from masturbation, but they don’t become like Goethe. It is absurd.

But Freud is the master of the world of the toilet. He lives there, that is his temple. Art becomes pathology, poetry becomes pathology, and everything becomes perversion. If Freudian analysis succeeds then there will be no Kalidaas, no Shakespeare, no Michelangelo, no Mozart, no Wagner, because everybody will be normal. These are abnormal people. These people are psychologically ill, according to Freud. The greatest are reduced to the lowest.

Buddha is ill, according to Freud, because whatsoever things he is talking about, they are nothing but repressed sex.

This approach reduces human greatness to ugliness. Beware of it.

Buddha is not ill; in fact, Freud is ill. The silence of Buddha, the joy of Buddha, the celebration of Buddha — it is not ill, it is the full flowering of wellbeing.

But to Freud the normal person is one who has never sang a song, who has never danced, who has never celebrated, never prayed, never meditated, never done anything creative, is just normal: goes to the office, comes home, eats, drinks, sleeps, and dies; leaves not a trace behind of his creativity, leaves not a single signature anywhere.

This normal man seems to be very mediocre, dull and dead. There is a suspicion about Freud that because he himself could not create — he was an uncreative person — he was condemning creativity itself as pathology.

There is every possibility that he was a mediocre person. It is his mediocrity which feels offended by all the great people of the world. The mediocre mind is trying to reduce all greatness. The mediocre mind cannot accept that there can be any greater being than him. That hurts. It is a revenge from the mediocre — this whole psychoanalysis and its interpretation of human life. Beware of it.

It is better than the first, yes, a little ahead of the first, but one has to go, and go on going, beyond and beyond.

The third is psychological. (Manipur Chakra, Learning Zone for Material progress)

Adler lives in the world of the psychological, the will to power; at least something — very egoistic, but at least something; a little more open than Freud.

But the problem is, just like Freud reduces everything to sex, Adler goes on reducing everything to inferiority complex.

People try to become great because they feel inferior. A person trying to become enlightened is a person who is feeling inferior, and a person trying to become enlightened is a person who is on the trip of power.

This is utterly wrong, because we have seen people — a Buddha, a Christ, and a Krishna — who are so utterly surrendered that their trip cannot be called a power-trip.

And when Buddha blooms he has no ideas of superiority, not at all. He bows down to the whole of existence. He has not that idea of holier-than-thou, not at all. Everything is holy, even the dust is divine. No, he is not thinking himself superior, and he was not striving to become superior. He was not feeling inferior at all. He was born a king; there was no question of inferiority. He was at the top from the very beginning, there was no question of inferiority. He was the richest man in his country, the most powerful man in his country: there was no more power to be attained, no more riches to be attained. He was one of the most beautiful men ever born on this earth, he had one of the most beautiful women as his beloved. All was available to him.

But Adler would go on searching for some inferiority because he could not believe that a man could have any goal other than the ego. It is better… better than Freud, a little higher. Ego is a little higher than sex; not much higher, but a little higher.

The fourth is ‘psycho-spiritual’, anahatta chakra the heart centre. (Growth Zone of Material World or All these four combine becomes Comfort Zone for Spiritual Progress)

Jung, Assagioli and others penetrate that realm. They go higher than Pavlov, Freud and Adler, they open more possibilities. They accept the world of the irrational, the unconscious: they don’t confine themselves to reason. They are more reasonable people — they accept ‘unreason’ or ‘irrational’ too. The irrational is not denied but accepted. This is where modern psychology stops — at the fourth rung. And the fourth rung is just in the middle of the whole ladder: three rungs on this side and three rungs on that side.

Modern psychology is not yet a complete science. It is hanging in the middle. It is very shaky, not certain about anything. It is more hypothetical than experiential. It is still struggling to be.

(This is also about fourth zone and most of the people remain stuck at this zone. May be because going beyond it one needs to loose one’s identity and unconditional surrender to God is becomes a necessary step.)

The fifth is ‘spiritual’ (Vishuddhi Chakra; Fear Zone for Spiritual progress): Islam, Hinduism, and Christianity — the mass-organized religions remain stuck with the fifth. They don’t go beyond the spiritual. All the organized religions, the churches, remain there.

The sixth is the ‘spiritual-transcendental’ (with Sahastrar Chakra. Growth Zone of Spiritual world)

– yoga, reiki and other methods.

All over the world, down the ages, many methods have been developed which are less like a church organization, which are not dogmatic but are more experiential. You have to do something with your body and mind; you have to create a certain harmony within yourself so that you can ride on that harmony, you can ride on that cloud of harmony and go far away from your ordinary reality. Yoga can comprehend all that; that is the sixth.

And the seventh is ‘transcendental’ (Sahastrar Chakra. Growth Zone of Spiritual world): Tantra, Tao, Zen. Buddha’s attitude is of the seventh – ‘pragyaparamita’.”

Quoted From chapter 1, The Buddha Within, The Heart Sutra, p4-10. In bracket – my comments are based on from my experience and knowing or understanding till date.

(Here one simply leaves one’s body i.e. Ego too, as its very purpose is achieved. Like a school kid at the end of the day leaves for his home, happily and in mood of celebration. Fear is permanently dissolved because the reason for fear lies deep within everyone, is only this yearning for unfinished task or unexplored opportunity but it was falsely projected on body and hence ‘Ego’ arises. Fear of death is fear of losing this ‘ego’ actually.)

“It means wisdom that is transcendental, wisdom that comes to you only when all the bodies have been crossed and you have become just a pure awareness, just a witness, pure subjectivity. Unless man reaches to the transcendental, man will have to be provided with toys, sugar sticks. He will have to be provided with false meanings.

Just the other day I came across an American car advertisement. It says — with a beautiful car — on top of the car it says: Something to believe in. Man has never fallen so low.

Something to believe in! You believe in a car?

Yes, people believe — people believe in their houses, people believe in their cars, people believe in their bank balances.

If you look around you will be surprised — God has disappeared, but belief has not disappeared. God is no longer there: now there is a Cadillac or a Lincoln! God has disappeared but man has created new gods — Stalin, Mao.

God has disappeared and man has created new gods — movie stars. This is for the first time in the history of human consciousness that man has fallen so low. And even if sometimes you remember God, it is just an empty word. Maybe when you are in pain, maybe when you are frustrated, then you use God — as if God is aspirin.

That’s what the so-called religions have made you believe: they say, “Take God three times a day and you won’t feel any pain!” So whenever you are in pain you remember God. God is not an aspirin, God is not a painkiller.

A few people remember God habitually, a few others remember God professionally. A priest — he remembers professionally. He has nothing to do with God, he is paid for it. He has become proficient.

A few people remember habitually, a few professionally, but nobody seems to remember God in deep love.

A few people invoke his name when they are miserable; nobody remembers him when they are in joy, celebrating. And that is the right moment to remember — because only when you are joyous, immensely joyous, are you close to God. (It is time to meditate first and then celebrate both achievements together!)

When you are in misery you are far away, when you are in misery you are closed.

When you are happy you are open, flowing; you can hold God’s hand.

So either you remember habitually, because you have been taught from the very childhood — it has become a kind of habit, like smoking. If you smoke you don’t enjoy much; if you don’t smoke you feel you are missing something. If you remember God every morning, every evening, nothing is attained, because the remembrance is not of the heart — just verbal, mental, and mechanical. But if you don’t remember you start feeling something is missing. It has become a ritual. Beware of making God a ritual, and beware of becoming professional about it. I have heard a very famous story:

The story is about one great yogi, very famous, who was promised by a king that if he could go into deep Samadhi (statue like state) and remain under the earth for one year, the king would give him the best horse in the kingdom as a reward.

The king knew that the yogi had a soft heart for horses, he was a great lover of horses. The yogi agreed; he was buried alive for a year. But in the course of the year the kingdom was overthrown and nobody remembered to dig up the yogi.

About ten years later someone remembered: “What happened to the yogi?” The king sent a few people to find out. The yogi was dug up; he was still in his deep trance. A previously-agreed-to mantra was whispered in his ear and he was roused, and the first thing he said was, “Where is my horse?”

After ten years of remaining in silence underneath the earth… but the mind has not changed at all — “Where is my horse?”

Was this man really in trance, in Samadhi? Was he thinking about God?

He must have been thinking about the horse. But he was professionally proficient, skilful.

He must have learned the technique of how to stop the breathing and how to go into a kind of death — but it was technical.

Remaining ten years in such deep silence, and the mind has not changed a little bit! It is exactly the same as if these ten years had not passed by.

If you technically remember God, if you professionally remember God, habitually, mechanically remember God, then nothing is going to happen. All is possible, but all possibilities go through the heart. Hence the name of this scripture: The Heart Sutra.

Unless you do something with great love, with great involvement, with great commitment, with sincerity, with authenticity, with your total being, nothing is going to happen.

For some people religion is like an artificial limb: it has neither warmth nor life. And although it helps them to stumble along it never becomes part of them; it must be strapped on each day. Remember, this has happened to millions of people on the earth, this can happen to you too.

Don’t create an artificial limb, let real limbs grow in you.

Only then will your life have a warmth, only then will your life have joy — not a false smile on the lips, not a pseudo kind of happiness that you pretend to, not a mask, but in reality.

Ordinarily you go on wearing things: somebody wears a beautiful smile, somebody wears a very compassionate face, somebody wears a very, very loving personality — but these are like clothes that you put on yourself. Deep down you remain the same.

These sutras can become a revolution.

The first thing, the beginning, is always the question, “Who am I?” And one has to go on asking.

When first you ask, “Who am I?” the ‘Muladhar’, the first chakra, will answer, “You are a body! What nonsense! There is no need to ask, you know it already.” (‘Comfort Zone’ for both material as well as spiritual world will reply what is the need to take so much pain)

Then the second, will say, “You are sexuality.” (‘Fear Zone’ will reply what is the need to conquer your fears)

Then the third, will say, “You are a power-trip, an ego”, and so on and so forth. (‘Learning Zone’ will reply what is the need to take so much pain in learning new things whatever learned is sufficient)

Remember, you have to stop only when there is no answer coming, not before it.

If some answer is coming that, “You are this, you are this,” then know well that some centre is providing you with an answer.

When all the six centres, six chakras, have been crossed and all their answers cancelled, you go on asking, “Who am I?” and no answer comes from anywhere, it is utter silence.

Your question resounds in yourself: “Who am I?” and there is silence, no answer arises from anywhere, from any corner. You are absolutely present, absolutely silent, and there is not even a vibration. “Who am I?”, and only silence. Then a miracle happens: you cannot even formulate the question. Answers have become absurd; then finally the question also becomes absurd. First answers disappear, then the question also disappears — because they can live only together. They are like two sides of a coin — if one side has gone, the other cannot be retained. First answers disappear, then the question disappears. And with the disappearance of question and answer, you come to realize: that is transcendental.

You know, yet you cannot say; you know, yet you cannot be articulate about it. You know from your very being who you are, but it cannot be verbalized. ‘It is life-knowledge’; it is not scriptural, it is not borrowed, it is not from others.

‘It has arisen in you’. And with this arising, you are a Buddha. And then you start laughing because you come to know that you have been a Buddha from the very beginning; you had just never looked so deep. You were running around and around outside your being, you had never come home.”

Quoted From chapter 1, The Buddha Within, The Heart Sutra, p4-10. In bracket – my comments are based on from my experience and knowing or understanding till date.

Now only you have come home. And a carefreeness like one feels when one reaches his/her home arises and whole world becomes your home. You go on knowing your original face deeper and deeper each day.

Every human life is a journey destined towards the beginning point of this whole existence. In Egypt it is described as Wisdom snake, which is eating its own tail. Out of nothingness as per Buddha or Shunyata as per Nagarjuna, this whole existence evolved. It is evolving each moment, like any material-by natural process may be very slow, tree or animal or human being. All these components are being fed by same energy as juice in a rose flower plant nourishes each root, thorn, leaf, and stem/branch and flower too individually while they all are away from each other and in different role.

So in free time creative people get immersed in Art forms as it helps one in forwarding inner journey.

If there is compassion enough to begin progress in spiritual dimension then this whole four Zone achievements becomes Comfort Zone in spiritual journey.

The ‘aha’ moment when one finds engulfed in natural surroundings is felt by this chakra.

Since God breathed in through your body at first, so unless and until you give first priority to him, he is not ready to accept your request. Initially only for few moments of your life, at least, when you are busy with your career making process and once established with family while children got married or so, then turn in for 24X7.

Then these moments will be of great benefit as the flame is still burning at dim light, and its effect may have been felt by you at fag end of your career when you lead a task and on final day you do not feel any hunger or thirst for whole day! It is a sign of the God, by being breathed in you with his energy energising you for whole day even without your notice. This is satori, if it is lost within few moments because your energy level is low to retain it for 24X7- this is your entry into second Zone (or sixth zone from beginning of career).

And if you go on practicing meditation and witnessing awareness then one day you will get the glimpse without any other support- this is you are about to leave any time the sixth zone and as now compassion rises in your heart for others. Here only due to blessings of God, it may happen to you that suddenly you enter into “Kingdom of God” effortlessly or it may not happen at all in your lifetime. It all depends upon his grace on you. He graced you first breath and now again his grace is important. So if one has reached to this point through motto “Work is worship” or “Prayer is worship” or “Love is God” these all are of no use afterwards only his grace and the more compassion overflows through you towards  whole ecosystem of the

The more are your chances. Still whatever you gained in your life till this time it will remain with you for next birth and you will be born in such family so that you will get opportunity to progress further, not necessary that it will be a comfortable life, but surely beneficial for your further journey towards innermost centre of you i.e. God.
